Marvel’s Response to a Possible Avengers/Spider-Man Game Crossover

PS4

Not a confirmation, but not a denial either.

While Crystal Dynamics didn’t confirm it, comments from Marvel left the door open for a potential crossover between Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Avengers.

During today’s stream of the E3 Coliseum, Marvel’s Bill Rosemann was asked about the possibility of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 crossing over with Marvel’s Avengers, to which he responded “Last time we were here, a year ago, discussing that certain character, the roof caught on fire. And if I was to comment on that character now, I think the roof would fall on my head! So I will just say, right now we’re just focused on creating the best Avengers game.”

This non-answer had a definite air of humor, but it was delivered in a way that suggested Rosemann was side-stepping the question instead of outright saying no, which would have been a much simpler solution if it were the truth. This answer leaves the door open to a shared gaming universe that Spider-Man and The Avengers could potentially share in the future.

IGN’s own Joshua Yehl made a connection after seeing yesterday’s first footage of The Avengers, noting that the game takes place on the west coast – which lines up neatly with an Avenger’s Tower Easter egg found in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Of course, none of this is confirmed, but it also hasn’t been denied, even when given a direct opportunity.

Yesterday, Square Enix revealed Marvel’s Avengers, even giving it a firm release date.
