Futurama, the beloved sci-fi animated series, is making a comeback with its revival on Hulu. The show’s eighth season, also known as Season 11, is set to debut on July 24th, with weekly episodes to follow every Monday. Hulu commissioned a total of 20 episodes for the revival in February 2022.

The History of Futurama

Futurama has had several resurrections since its original run on Fox in 1999. The show found new life through reruns on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim and DVD releases. Four direct-to-video films were produced and later re-edited into a fifth season that aired on Comedy Central in 2008. Comedy Central aired two more seasons, each consisting of 26 episodes, between 2010 and 2013.

What to Expect in the New Season

The official synopsis for the new season promises a fresh start for new viewers while also addressing long-standing mysteries. Fans can look forward to the latest developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, revelations about Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and updates on Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Additionally, the season will explore futuristic themes such as vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV in the face of a new pandemic.

The Return of the Original Voice Cast

The original voice cast, including Billy West, Katey Sagal, and other familiar names, will reprise their roles in the revival. Notably, John DiMaggio, known for his iconic portrayal of Bender, initially wasn’t part of the new episodes but announced his involvement in March 2022.

Fans of the show can rejoice as Futurama makes its highly anticipated return on Hulu. With its original voice cast and a slew of new themes and storylines, this revival promises to deliver the same humor and wit that made the show a cult classic. Get ready for a fresh start and more adventures with Fry, Leela, and the rest of the gang!
